Growing Truffles

Truffles are tricky things to grow but we are doing our best and did grow the first Black Truffle in the Northland/Auckland region in 2012. Since then quantities have been steadily increasing and we hope to provide you with fresh black truffle again in 2025. We are part of the Northern Regional Truffle group and belong to the NZ Truffle Association

2025 Season and Truffle Tours

We are looking forward to our first Truffle Hunt probably starting in June, in the meantime we are running Truffle tours of the orchards so please email us for more info dtruffle@gmail.com The tours take about 1 hour to 90 minutes and includes a tasting platter featuring artisan Truffle products. You can book a Truffle Experience on Airbnb - just search under Warkworth Experiences over the months of April and May or contact us directly to arrange a visit.

Truffle Hunting underway

Regular truffle hunting is essential! At least every 10 days during the Winter Truffle season.

Truffles

There are many varieties of Truffles. The most expensive is the Black or Perigord truffle (Tuber melanosporum), other varieties include Winter truffle (Tuber brumale),Summer truffle (Tuber aestivum var. aestivum) and Burgundy truffle (Tuber aestivum var. uncinatum). In our Truffiere we have both Black Truffle and Winter Truffle species growing. This is our very first truffle found in 2012.
